wow cool film, really good, now most films rise and fall on the plot twist, but I thought it was 'misdirected' and handled well enough for an what is really a cliched plot twist but the tesla stuff, the victoran magicions, the women and the rivavlery all that meant there was lots of stuff in the film.

although I thought the end reveal was cut short itwas nicely horrible

think i might go buy the book its based on has anyone read it?

I think the whole eddison vs tesla real life rivarly is cool, did I read somewhere
that a film was being made about that about this battle between those two to control america? maybe based on a comic book or was that just the league of extraordinary gentleman

ah is this being turned into a film http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Five_Fists_of_Science

The Prestige was one of the best films of last year. It was disgraceful that it got only a single nomination [maybe 2] at the oscars. Bale definatly deserved a nomination ahead of both Will Smith and O'Toole.

I'm a big fan of Chris Nolan. He hasn't done many films, only like 3 or 4 but they've all been amazing. Memento, Batman Begins and now The Presitge. Can't wait for the next one!

he also directed insomnia with al pacino, hillary swank and robin williams. good flick too.

i wasnt looked forward to the prestige but was pleasantly surprised. he even made hugh jackman worth watching. also scarlett johanson was fine in it!

Yeah, I was disappointed it wasn't nominated at the Oscars - I thought it was excellent.

Great performances by Bale, Jackman and Caine, and an excellent world created too.

One of my favourites last year. Re-affirmed Christopher Nolan as one of the greatest Hollywood talents at the moment. Tis a shame his innovative films are looked over in favour of the generic 'good' film (Clint Eastwood, Im looking your way)

I'm about 3/4 way through reading it. It's quite unlike the film in many ways. Some of it is set today and features Borden's great-grandson and Angier's great-granddaughter. But check it out, it's well worth the read. Great book so far.

You should try get your hands on Following, Nolan's first film. It's brilliant, a sign of the genius to come. It features many of the elements we've come to expect from Nolan- fractured timeline, plot twists, character-driven story.

    Following @ IMDB

Anyway, The Prestige. One of my top 3 of last year. Brilliant film.

It was one of the best films I saw last year.
So much better than most of the junk churned out these days.
Very low key publicity wise for such a stellar cast and crew.
I wouldnt worry too much about it not winning any Oscars, those awards are a
    joke.

wasnt really looking forward to seeing this last year, but thought it was an excellent film wit an excellent cast!!!!!! The plot/twist was brilliant althought i did think it was 20mins to long but a very enjoyable film.......shame it wasnt up for more oscars! Nolan is turning out to be a great director!

Wow ! i only watched this today and have to say i was impressed, took 15-20 mins to get into the characters and general plot, but was very surprised overall at how good the story was and was waiting and waiting for the twist at the end, guessed the obvious twist but the last one hit me like a brick ! well done Mr.Nolan !

Just watched this myself tonight, and I have to say, fantastic show.

I'll generally make a point of seeing any film Christian Bale is in, and any film Christopher Nolan has directed, so two of them together, I was really anxious to see this. It certainly lived up to expectations, and even comparably better to the previous Bale/Nolan effort, Batman Begins, as good as that was.

Does anyone else think it a shame that David Bowie doesn't act more? Apart from the accent, I thought it was quite good in this.

While I generally love everything Nolan's done so far, I thought Insomnia was average at best. The original Norwegian film it was based on was far superior, although that's probably because Stellan Skarsgard could out-act Pachino in his sleep (Pun ftw!), but there was an incredible bleakness and atmosphere that the Hollywood version just didn't capture.

yeah i thought bowie was excellent in it. I think i had too high expectations for this, because although i really liked it, i just felt there was something about it that i couldn't put my finger on that didn't quite do it for me

True the ending was very sci-fi for a movie that was not overall science fiction, but if you look beyond that it more than mkes up for it.

Agreed on insomnia being average at best. About the prestige, Really enjoyed the film but...

SPOILER: (highlight text)I was really rooting for the tesla device to be another deception perpetrated against Jackman by Bale with the help of a Tesla fake and a lorryload of Top Hats. I was rather let down with the sci-fi, they actually created a miracle machine reality when everything else in the film is plausable

His next film is "The Dark Knight" coming out in 2008 the sequel to "Batman Begins" which was extremely cool and a great film
