Country Membership

Was trying to get a few mates into my own place but looks like they wont be accepted for a while yet. Plan for the summer was to play a lot of open competitions this year so we're now thinking that they'll join some place cheap down the country purely for the GUI handicap.

I see Castlebar offer membership for €200 outside Connaught, Mulranny are asking for €400, so anyone know of any other country offers that are either good courses or good value. While it's a selfish post I did notice a lot of novices on other threads so I'm sure they'll find the info useful.

    Cheers

Im a member of Christy OConnor GC at Silloge in Dublin. Its only 380 euro for the first year and about 300 every year after that. Its a nice course too.

I think with country membership you will have to play three rounds there to get your HC which can be a pain in the arse if its the other side of the country.

Virginia Golf Club, in Cavan, are looking for new members. About €600, I think, for full membership, first year, and about half that annual subs after that. It's 50 miles from the M50, up the N3.

Note, for "Country Membership" you are supposed to have full membership on another course and live outside 50 miles of the club you are intending to join.

I'm a member of Slievenamon Golf Club in Clonmel, Distance Membership is €150, then you get a full GUI handicap after you play your three rounds there.
Myself and my dad did this and we go out playing opens every week in the summer
