Okay I apologise to everyone here, it seems I've been asking a new question every second day. I'm sorry, but I'm really trying to get my act together and get all the accessories I need. But where's the best place in town for a polarizing lens and how much are they? It's a 58mm Canon EOS.

You mean a polarising filter? Gunnes, Conn's or Bermingham Cameras should have them.

Cool can I ask how much ya paid? You think it's a good move?

    I paid around 40 for a 55mm I think.
So i guess yours will cost around 50 for a cheap
    one (like mine) .

Totally worth it. I never have mine off unless it is really
    dark.

I got a Hoya 58mm circular polariser for €22 from a local chemist-cum-camera-dealer. Couldn't find a 52mm one for my other lens for love nor money though.

Oh cool and how is it? What chemist would that be?

Why not try eBay? I got mine, plus an 81A skylight, for about €15 posted...

TelePaul: Well, when I say local... White's Pharmacy in Kilkenny.
I haven't got much use of it yet, only got it a week ago and have been shooting pretty much night shots only since then!

Stephen, you want to get yourself one of these bad boys, that'll save you buying an extra polariser. Unless you want to have one on each lens at the same time, obviously. I've got a 55mm polariser and use a step down to put it on my 52mm lenses.

I got one too in Gunnes , but I only use it in sunshine / blue skies situations -- does it really benefit other shooting settings ?

I dont really know to be honest, I know it reduces
reflections and cuts out the amount of light by at
least 1 stop (which can be annoying sometimes).
Sometimes affects auto focus is affected too.

I find it brilliant for photographing cars. I have a red car, and if you take a picture of it in bright sunlight it looks all washed out and nearly pink. If you use a filter it looks like a nice deep red, and you can see the interior instead of a reflection on the windows :)

Speaking of polarizers, I want Fajitas' incredibly awesome B&W filter.

This'll give you an idea of what a polariser does:
