We have had this old chestnut a few times in the past. I do not think there was a majority decision reached on it. I personally think it is a matter of choice, and would largely depend on any history I had with the player concerned and the mood I am in. Having said that at 10-20 it shouldnt make that big a difference one way or the other.

imo sit out for about 5 minutes to give him a chance to return. then raise raise raise if he continues to no show.

do unto others as they have done to you

i.e. raise non stop unless u get dealt aa/kk: then give em 30 secs to get back

Raise, raise, raise. I play almost exclusively headsup nowadays and i have never had anyone wait for me if i disconnect so i have no problem doing it to anyone else.

I think this was the majorities thinking in the last thread I read on this subject.

I have had this happen at the start of heads up games twice.
once the guys was in the chat box saying there was a problem, so i waited, the other he was never there at all, so it was min raise city,
it is unmoral, but it is also what would happen to you out there. so i had no problem,
it has happen to me everytime i disconnect

I'm kinda gobsmacked that any poker player actually has a moral dilemna here. While I'm sure this goes to show you're a top bloke in real life, like all of us here of course ;)

The fact that you had to pose this question leads me to think that you need to get more ruthless when it comes to poker, short of cheating or being downright nasty I'm looking to take the other player(s) money and I expect the same in return, it's just tough luck on whoever gets disconnected.

I've literally lost a few k before a while back when i having bad connection problems, I'm certainly not going to quibble when it happens the other way round and like others have said anytime I've got disconnected no one has waited for me to get back either.

I nearly always wait 5 minutes.
The very first time I was in the final 2 of an STT, I got disconnected, an opponent waited for me.
So waiting always seemed the normal thing to do from then on.

Only once has someone blinded me away, every other time people have waited.

Maybe I've just been lucky to be h2h against nice people though.

Fair enough, I can safely say it hasn't been my experience of them. Hmm and I thought I was a nice guy, but waiting for a disconnected player to return wouldn't cross my mind for a minute, maybe I am an evil muther after all :p

happened to me the other day...

last 4 of a 10 seater €50+5 stt.... big stack (around 50% of chips) disconnects)...

we play on an I take out the small stack leaving me second...

I put 3rd place all in ,he hits runner runner to takes half of my chips... (big stack disconnected the whole time)....

he tries to nick the blinds every round but gets caught once too often goes out....

as I blind out big stack (who has been disconnected for 10 minutes at this stage) 3rd place stays in the chat box calling me a cheat for taking the blinds....

Anyone saying that you should wait here probably isn't a winning player. Ethics don't exist online, you have to be cut-throat in every decision you make.
If on the other hand you play him HU regularly or personally know him, then blinded him away and transferring the buy-in back seems fine.

I would recommend slowrolling and tapping the aquarium so.
