Well, Im off to Vegas next Wednesday(March 21st) for a weels hols so a couple of questions that boardsters might have answers to:

1: Are there any live satts on for the world series in vegas at this time
2: Is there an advantage in buying dollars here before i go or should I take euros with me and buy dollars over there?
3: Its going to be a poker holiday so any advice on where to play would be appreciated. I plan on playing a daily tourney and having a crack at the cash tables at night-time.
4: We're booked into the flamingo so advice on their poker room would be appreciated.

Any other vegas advice would be welcome as it is my first trip there, but hopefully not my last.

    Thanks in advance,.......Connie

    Hi Connie,

I was there in January and thought the softest cash games were in the Venetian. They also run a decent tourney each eveneing. The Mandalay Bay has a very small card room but is full of fish, especially on weekends when they have UFC fights on. We stayed in the MGM and I found the games there a little too tight. They were definitely beatable, but there are easier games out there. Was also told that Ballys and the orleans are excellent for cash games.

    Connie,

The Wynnn have great structured tournaments with 45 minute clock starting at 12 midday. The buyin is $300 and $500 on Fri or Sat I think. It only runs 4 days a week though so check which days it is on. The poker room is excelent, however I felt the standard was slightly higher there.

Caesars is good for cash. Lots of 1/2 and 2/5 NL tables and a nice poker room. They have a $200 tournament on daily at 5pm (as far as I remember) and it got good numbers however the structure was quite fast after the break.

The Flamingo had two or three tables running, mostly 1/2. I never played there because it depressed me but some of the lads said the action was very soft.

The Bellagio is the nicest poker room and it has a $500 or 1k daily event at 2pm. The structure is amazing and it attracts the biggest fields. I highly recommend dishing out for this as your one biggish tournament while over there.

Paris Paris has the fishiest small buyin tournaments and cash games. It's bright and nosiy, not a bad option if you want a few beers while playing!

If you are hungover I recommend the Mirage. A really nice quiet poker room, very dimly lit and had some good tournaments on, $120 buyin or around that I think.

    gl!!

The Palms hotelalso has two great restaraounts, a steak house and another one with mixed food. Both top notch

    Hi Connie,
Went over there last year for the first time and stayed in the Flamingo, okay hotel but the poker room in it is bad, very bad, and the smell in the casino, still can't figure out what it was. We went to Ceasers Palace across the road, where the poker room was top class. they have Tournaments 3 times a day, have really good cash games 1-2 pot limit Holdem Min buy in $200 max buy in $500, and loads of 2 - 5 holdem games aswell. Its a nice big room with a great atmosphere, it became our home away from home. Enjoy the experience, im going back in September and hope to stay in Ceasers Palace this time. Don't forget to do a report on your experience.

    Con,
(you know my levels so not a big dog but...)

Was there last October for 5 days.
Believe or not I only played 1 tourney, some crap thing in the Monte Carlo.
Wife wanted to play so I sat in as well.

I played cash in the MGM nearly every night (nice setup).
There was a dentist and all things dental convention on that week and they just kept going to the well.

Played 1/2 & 2/5 (played fairly tight but picked 2/3 players at the table).
Up ~1.5K (dollars) for 4 nights there, was dead happy with that as you can imagine.

(Moral) -If you can find a convention with guys just out for a good time follow it.

Anyway probably talk to you Monday.
    Have a good one!

Yes. I got asked for ID in almost every casino and card room I went into. I even got asked for ID to get a bottle of water (not joking).

    Hi Connie,

Hope you have a great trip, you will definitely enjoy the experience.

If you look up the hotels/casinos in vegas you will get a list of their daily tournaments.

I know the Aladdin run about 4/5 tournaments a day with cash games in between. Tournaments start there at about 9.00am / 10.00am and run to mid night i think.

the links below should provide you with some info as well.
