MSN Live for Mac? WTF?

Hi Folks,
I logged into MSN messenger for Mac today, like every other day, which told me that a new one was available and that I had to upgrade to that to continue (typical Mircosoft holding a gun to your head, but anyway).
I clicked the "What's new" button (in the Mac app), and it took me to this page:

which appears to have the Mac icons, but links to the PC download.

Now, the Mac download did continune, and simply installed 6.0.2 (070116), nothing to do with Live at all.

Did anybody else get this Microsoft **** up?

But doesnt it just make you glad that you are on a decent OS?? Its probably Mr Jobs' way of saying 'screw you for using msn on your beautiful machine' - a mac hack!!

Have you put in the correct proxy settings in each? Adium runs on the TCD network, MSN doesn't.

i have the macbook with the camera and presumed i would be able to use the webcam with MSN on the mac - how wrong i was.

the only msn-like program that works with the camera is aMSN.. and you dont get sound, just the picture... and the program itself is §hite

Yahoo Messenger works with a camera on a Mac.

Not that I'm endorsing Messenger - just letting you know if you're hell bent on using your camera.

iChat using jabber also lets you use your camera!

with AIM it works, Skype works with camera and audio, works well too, I use it sometimes.

Regarding Adium on the college network, I've changed the proxy settings and it hasn't worked. Does it matter that Safari and Firefox are set to automatically detect settings?

dont use AIM so dont know, but iChat + camera def works with jabber accounts like gmail, not msn though

Nope I do as well tbh. I dont know why I dont like Adium I have tried it out loads of times but I just dont like it. MSN is the only microsoft app on my machine but I do like it. I use iChat for my jabber accounts and I have tried loads of apps to run the two accounts together, like Adium, Fire, aMSN etc, but I just prefer MSN.

Dunno, maybe ask if there are any Mac users over in the UCD forum who can help you?

Yeah im using ichat through jabber for msn and yahoo, works a treat. Skype for everything else. Now if i could get people to use ichat for all chatting, best video by far. :rolleyes:
