    No.

One is Mexican, one is American

As the lads have said, one is Mexican, one is US. Among the regular models, non sig, non special edition, anytime you see a Fender called a Standard or a Deluxe it's made in Mexico. They make a song and dance about the US ones, they've got their American and American Deluxe series.

    Any major differences?

The Mexican one is still a good guitar right?

The little I know about that the whole US/ non-US thing is that apparently they're not quite as picky about the wood quality for non-US guitars. They use the bestest for the States, and the best of the rest for the others.

It's not that striaghtforward. Generally, the parts used for the Standards are pretty crap, plus they don't shield the bodies so they're rather prone to electrical noise. There are better guitars out there for the money.

My Mexican Strat is sex, but it was made in 93. Newer ones tend to feel and sound cheap.

Have just had a look through the American models.

    Oh Mama.

If the Strat was a woman...

Just wait til I go home to my modest Japanese model. (Friend of mine nicked it from her dad, then told me to hang on to it for now...Fine by me :D )
