    Hi I am looking for a good king size bed. Has anyone been out and about at furniture shops and picked up a good one (inc mattress and headboard).

    What size are you looking for? I was looking in Arnotts last week at Tempura beds and a 5 foot wide bed was about €4,500. The mattress alone was €2,500. I would be interested in a memory foam mattressed bed but I couldn't justify shelling out this kind of money.
    Bed Sizes

    Mattress Size
    Note: some manufacturers are shaving inches off of these "standard" sizes. Understand the exact size of the mattress you decide to purchase and how fitted sheets may not fit correctly on non-standard sized mattresses. Also known as: Width
    (in Inches) Length
    (in Inches)
    Crib Baby bed 28" 52"
    Twin Single 39" 75"
    Twin X-Long Extra Long Single 39" 80"
    Double Full 54" 75"
    Queen Queen 60" 80"
    Standard or Eastern King King 76"-78"
    (widest) 80"
    California King Western King 72" 84" (longest)

    # Standard King or Eastern King beds are about 18" wider than a Queen bed and the same length. A King size bed is sold with two box springs or frames and one mattress. This makes it easier to move.

    * Overall dimensions: 76" wide x 80" long
    * Width per person: 38"
    * Pros: As the widest bed commonly available in stores, the Standard King is the most comfortable for two adults. The 80" length is sufficient for most people. Sheets labeled "King Size" fit a Standard King bed.
    * Cons: Because of its size, a King bed may not be practical for a single person who has to do the moving by himself. They're hard to get upstairs, through narrow, windy hallways, and small rooms. It may not be long enough for very tall people. Bedding is most expensive in the King sizes. The wide bed requires at least 3 standard or 2 queen or king pillows, adding to the cost.

    I was going to suggest Argos and Silentnight as well; great beds. There's one with a memory foam layer on top, and pillowtop as well, very comfy. There's also a selection of others brands at half price. Offers end 27th. March.

    I got mine from UK - http://www.bltbeds.co.uk/

    Worked out about 1.5k cheaper than in Arnotts for the same bed & mattress, and they only charged me 20 quid for delivery.

    Not sure if they still deliver to Ireland, this was over a year ago, but it's worth a shot.

    My papa works for Respa. If you want his contact details, send me a PM and I'll let him know to look after you. They deliver to Dublin (if that is where you are located) a few times everyday so that wouldn't be an issue.

    Try Irish Home & Garden. (In Naas, Tralee, Abbeyfeale and a few more places I think). Very nice beds and €1600 for a memory foam matress as well. Very good service also - very unusual for an Irish company these days from what I can see.

    Did that price include the bed as well as the mattress

    No. The bed + matress was €2175 total I think (in their sale) - (sleigh bed type without the foot board part of the sleigh).

    www.famousfurniture.ie. They sell last season stuff from high street stores at half the price.

    I bought two kingsize solid oak beds there recently for €550 and €450. I think they’re waiting to be re-stocked at the moment so ring beforehand.
