Are there any shops in Ireland that would stock a 5Y3 Rectifier Valve?

not a chance mate, honestly i doubt it considering i have trouble finding good 12ax7's most of the time!

give alladin's amps a ring,he might have a spare one?

Yeah, thought so. Back to Eurotubes it is then.

I'm sure most shops could get them in for you, but it'd take longer than ordering them yourself. As well as Eurotubes, Watford Valves are very good, and I've heard of a company called Hotrox, both based in England.

I had a look at Watford valves and they were quite expensive. I got 5 ECC83's with 2 high gain and 1 phase inverter, and 4 EL84's plus Fedex(or similar) shipping for $115 from Eurotubes. That's good value and the sound (to me) is excellent. Let's see how long they last! Can only use the amp in 30watt mode now though as the feckin Rectifier tube went last night.

"but honey..... the amp wont go any lower" :p

When it comes to rectifier tubes, i wouldnt actually be that pushed about spending too much. They DO have an influence on the sound, but not sufficient enough to start spending big money IMO.

I'd pick up a cheapie off thomann for E15.

Edit - I just looked at watford and they have plenty of cheap ones too...?

It won't save your tubes but a power soak is very useful...
