6 seater game. all players are solid-ish . well i have only played roughly 20hands and havent seen a stupid play.

    I have $198
    villian has $185

UTG raises to $8. Villian next to act calls $8. Im on the button and make it $28 with AK spades. Original raises folds and villian calls.
    Pot is $67.

    Flop comes 3s, Ac, 8h.

He checks . I throw out $30. and he goes over the top all- in.

    Call/Fold?

Call, and bet more on the flop too. $50-$55 looks a good amount. Your bet looks like a standard continuation bet a lot here. If he has 88/33 then unlucky but I don't think you can/should get away from this.

Looking forward to reading why I am wrong though :)

yeah i thought he might have had a set or maybe ace8.

The only reason i threw out a small $30, because of the raggedy rainbow flop. I thought I would have been miles ahead and wanted one caller to take to the turn.

    Anyway I folded

Your bet was inviting a raise, so I'd call and expect to be good.

Cant see a solid player calling a re-raise with A3 or A8 here having to play it OOP. Your more likely only behind to 33 or 88 here if hes playing solid. Strange push though, you get the feeling hes trying to push you off your hand maybe sensing weakness with the flop bet and putting you on a high pair JJ-KK.

Saying that youve still only 1 pair here and theres not many hands your beating either that he'd push with so folding is ok until you get a better read or better spot.

I'm not sure what kind of flop you're hoping for? 2 pair+?

i think 88 is way more likely than 33 here and is a distinct possibility.Although i do think you have to call given that your small flop bet was nearly encouraging him to bluff you.

    I also raise more pf,around $32-$35.

no , one pair would do,

but a check raise is a v.strong play
If he had of just pushed all in, being first to act, i would call in a light. theres a big difference

Don't take the wrong way, but if the above is a reflection of your style then you are playing at way too high a level.

easy call, I would expect to see AQ AJ and even maybe a bluff

Is the opponent in this hand likely to push you off a strong ace by playing a set this strong? If the guy is playing 88 for set value then he needs to make more than the $30 you bet on the flop

    I am calling this

I mean that most of the time I will check this flop with every hand I might have from AA to 109s, unless I have a particular reason to bet - ie, they c/f A high flops alot or they like to bluff in 3 bet pots, or w/e

    Call in a heartbeat.
Everyone has said how little they like the flop bet, and unless it was to induce a raise I agree.
No offense mate but it seems you were playing with scared money afriad to commit to a hand.
Dont get me wrong I've been there meself :o, but if you get bored, perhaps you should just stop playing.
