Looking for Summer Work- Need Advice

    Hey,

My name is Enda, I'm 17 and I'm based in Dublin. I'm a student in 1st year doing Business Studies in DIT, Aungier Street.

I'm looking for work over the summer, preferably in an office or dealing with figures as opposed to serving the public in a supermarket.

    Good Points:
-Fairly Good grades in leaving 2006 [all honors bar maths, passed them all]
-Certificate of attendence from school for missing less than 5 days of school between 5th and 6th year.
-I'm a hard worker and will give any possible job my 100% best effort.
-I'm under 18 until late in August so I can be paid worse wages compared to other applicants :o

    Bad Points:
-I have no car so I rely on public transport. Ideally I would like to work in town as I live very near to a bus stop.
-Only previous work experiance was 2 weeks on a bulding site working for my dad last summer [useless]

Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone has gotten the kind of job I'm after in the past. If so, any pointers on how I should go about. I've browsed some of the website like monster.ie and that and can't find anything relative really.

    ANY help is appreciated!

Go sign up at a temp agency. If I were you I'd look for a more "fun" job as you'll just be doing boring stuff anyhows.

    Which one would you recommend?

  • I worked in a stockbroker's and a bank as an underage student in summer months.

Just send your CV and a cover letter showing enthusiasm to 5/6 of the larger company's offices in town.
