Splitting Sky TV without multi-room viewing?

I tried searching for this but can't find a straight forward answer..

I renovated a house recently and ran 4 TV cables from the sitting room to the attic. I connected the sky satelite directly to one cable and then plugged the sky dish into that one so I have my sky digital on the main TV downstairs.

I connected the other 3 cables through a Combined amplifier in the attic, 1 to the TV In port and the other 2 to the TV Out ports but I don't have Sky in the other rooms yet?

I know it is going to be the same channel on every TV, thats fine but does anybody know how to get the picture on the other TVs? Does the TV In port have to be connected to the RF1 or RF2 port on the sky box and do I have to Auto tune the TV to pick up the channel?

Also is there any setting to enable on the sky box to send out the signal?

I'm not being lazy, I've tried every way I can think of but just don't have a clue!! HELP...

your opening post not too clear, but you say that you have sky digital on one tv but want to distribute it around the house

    try this

satellite dish connected by coax cable to sky box

coax from rf1 on sky box to main tv in sitting room
coax from rf2 on sky box to in port on conbiner/splitter in attic
coax from outs on conbiner/splitter to other tvs

make sure to plug out sky box before before doing this

check tv in sitting room for a good picture and then auto tune or manual tune other tvs.
no need to change any settings on sky box unless you want to add a "magic eye" to one of the other tvs. that allows you to change the channel on sky box from the other tv location if you want.

    hope this helps

I have the setup described above but cannot get the magic eye to work - is there a setting I should set on the box to achieve this?

magic eues may not work properly if routed thru' a combiner/splitter/amplifier as they need the signal 9v from the sky box

Also there may be a problem with amplifying the signal (maybe dangerous?!)

You need to turn on the power option for the magic eye. Its in the service menu.
    Go to
    Services'
    '4'
    '0', '1', 'Select'
This brings up the Service Menu with various options including the 'magic eye' power select.
you also need to ensure you distribution amp in magic eye compatible.

I have what you are trying to achieve, it's possible if you follow the above posts, single cable runs required i.e. no extension after you split the rf out 2 signal, make sure any lead runs from the splitter to the back of whatever tv without any further extension

Cheers so I assume if the distribution amp is magic eye compatible then there shouldn't be an issue routing the power through it.

Fingers crossed - I'll try it tonight.

    what is ''magic eye'':o

A little sensor for the Sky remote.

It has a coax plug and socket and LED, usually a separte IR sensor for the remote on a thin wire. Goes in the aerial cable near the TV or directing inline on tv socket.

The coax connects to RF2 out on a Sky Digibox. TV aerial to Sky Digibox RF in.

The "eye" gets 9V DC via the RF2 socket and converts the IR remote signal to a RF signal from the TV to The RF2.

Thus any Distribution box on RF2 to feed 2, 4, 6 or 8 TVs must supply 9V and pass a low RF frequency in reverse direction. Called "Sky magic eye" compatible.

A video sender is a more general solution as it works with any video source, uses any remote, has higher quality video if the signal is OK, needs no coax install, will feed any number of sets and does stereo. Ordinary RF coax from a Sky / VHS etc is mono, RF coax only stereo for off air TV channels via aerial or sometimes analogue cable.
