Responses to the Nationalist, RedFM and The Star

After having read the information in the latest article by the Star I contacted NOIP and discussed what we should do.

It is felt that their is no reason to panic regarding the issue and that Airsoft is not under any threat per se.

Right now we need some peace and quiet on the media front to allow us the time to get organised and cross the i's and dot the t's.

As such we would ask that people exercise restraint and common sense when reacting to publicity (good or bad). There is no sense in inundating the media with dozens of emails and letters defending a sport they arent even aware of yet when we havent the protection of an official association or a press release package to explain what we do.

With the best intentions of everyone on boards who wants to protect the sport - and I personally appreciate your passion - too many folk shouting too loudly makes us look like a disorganised mob ... and armed disorganised mob.

Remember that the people working in the media are only doing their job and regardless of your feelings about what they say they are professionals operating on the information they have at the time. That information may be inaccurate or erroneous but we dont know where they got it or how or even what their intentions are. As such, personal attacks or remarks that could be offensive to the group or individual involved should be refrained from.

However, with all that said, please do keep an eye out for articles and mentions of Airsoft, Replica's, BB guns etc in the media and we appreciate you keeping us posted.
