Ah I see 1 gig sandisks are €50 in dublin camera exchange, think I'll go there.

the sandisk one is high speed, whereas the other one isn't. You'll also pay more for brands, but it's typically worth it... it is for me anyway...

yikes... Suspiciously low for a 12gb card. I'm way too paranoid to use anything over 4gb at the moment... I'd hate to lose 12gb's of photos :(

I'd have to agree , 12GB on one card , the paranoia , no , I'd go for 6 x 2GB , at least that way if one died it wouldn't be such a disaster.

I saw 7Dayshop.com had non-Brand CF cards at ridiculously cheap prices €20 or so for a 4Gig card. Check out their specials or clearance deals, not sure which one I saw it in.

Being Non-Brand and so cheap its probably slow and flimsy... but it's also very cheap.

I'd go for a few 4gig ones. Very cheap for the Sandisk though. I see VAT is NOT included but there is little chance of a small packet being stopped.

The 7Dayshop ones are cheap, cheerful and dog slow. Build quality is OK though. I think I'll get a few Sandisks in B&H's next week.

    suppose it depends.

    I have a 30D, shoot raw and have 2, 1 gig sandisks and 1, 2 gig card.

    If I had a 5D I would probably have 4gig cards etc...

If i was shooting jpg all the time then I would only use 1 gigs.

I'm sure in the future I will probably get an 8gig Sandisk when they are
cheaper but at the moment I am afraid. :)

I got a four gig card from 7 day and its spot on, not as fast as some I have but not at all second rate in the build department, I have a 4gig SD on the way so that will be 8gigs in the camera plenty to keep me shoting for days even in raw, also 4 gig cards are handy for quick DVD transfer.

i've used them 2 or maybe 3 times in the past, never had a problem.

a fast 12GB card is needed if you're shooting sport with a 1D mkIII in raw. i've about 6 sandisk cards of various sizes and never had them not work. 12GB is a bit scary if the pictures are very important but when people shot film you had to trust your pictures to someone else to put into hot baths of chemicals

some amazing photos have been lost before, without ever having been seen
