    Hi,

I had a couple of questions which I would be grateful if someone could help me with.

    1) What is the typical age for someone to try MMA their hand if they have no martial arts background, I am 38 and wonder if this may be too late?

    2) Are there any clubs in North Kildare i.e. Maynooth, Celbridre, Kilcock, Leixlip etc?

    Thanks for your help.
    Dave N

The closest to you is SBG in Rathcoole, not too much of a trip from anywhere in North Kildare.

As for age, I can't think of a single reason why age should come into it. Typical doesn't come into it either. Go for it.

    Hi there Dave,

I live near celbridge and I don't think there's any MMA clubs in the vicinity. If you were able to make the short trip over the road to Rathcoole (10 mins from Celbridge) Straight Blast Gym is set up in the Industrial Estate. John Kavanagh runs it, I've only trained there once but I found it to be a very positive experience.

I don't have the times off the top of my head but if you have a look at their website: SBG Ireland I'm sure you'll get all the info you need.

With regard to your other question, you're never too late to start MMA, you'll just have to adjust the intensity of your training to suit yourself. John's always on about this so you should be in good hands over in SBG.

    -Bobby

    John,

Thanks for your reply to my previous question. I actually did the intro a couple of weeks ago which Suzanne had set it up. I liked everything about the intro, even 20 minutes was a good workout but my dilemma is I cannot make the time for the intro classes due to having to work most evenings. Suzanne said I could train on Wednesdays and Fridays during the day which would be ideal but advised that I would only get part of the curriculum that way. I am still 'wrestling' with the trade-off which is why I was wondering about alternative venues.

Could you confirm if there is any other way to make up the introductory curriculum if 7.00 on weeknights is not feasible?

    thanks
    DaveN

Cannot recommend shootfighters enough, two lads are 100%! only doing it a couple of months and useless but they both take time out to teach properly and never lose patience!

I apologise if I'm wrong here, but wasn't there a whole tread about the Lucan MMA club being not quite so honest about its instructors credentials if I remember correctly? If I'm wrong or mixing it up with someone else I apologise! Couple of friends have said only good things about the Shootfighter club in Leixlip.

I'd just like to know if anyone has any info on the Husaria Fight Team (http://www.husariafightteam.com) in Celbridge? Being someone with no MMA experience, do they take beginners? Any other info on the cost etc would be appreciated.

    Nice blokes in Hussaria.

    They take beginners.

Pop in and speak to Marius (I'm assuming I spelled that wrong).
