    Or Jesus.....

Pub game. 2 players involved are not normally Donks (opinion may change based on play made).

Blinds 25/50, single rebuy - neither players has re-bought. Both are circa 3.5K in chips.

    1 EP limper.
    SB limps.
    BB raises 5xBB.
    EP folds, SB calls.

    Flop: Q 7 2 Rainbow.

SB bets 600 (just over pot), while the BB thinks, SB flips over his hand, mistakenly thinking that the BB has folded. He has 22 for bottom set. Ruling is that he is still alive, but allowed to only call bets from now on.

    BB re-raises all-in.
    Would you call? Why/Why Not?

    interesting one.

Against a standard (pub) player I would fold. They would not grasp the concept of being able to possibly bluff you off the pot.

Against a good player, who you know can bluff etc I would be more likely to insta call (if that makes sense!)

call because it shows the world that you have the inner soul reading ability of a young Ghandi.

However if he flips up top set your gonna have to execute everyone at the table, in the bar and possibly in the car park in case word gets out what you did.

    Its a tricky one.

    Interesting one
I would never try bluff a player of a set people just dont fold sets
With that in mind i think the likelyhood of him bluffing is very small unless they know each other well

Its a call, and why? Well you don't follow up one mistake with another that's why. It the other player had a higher set, he'd bet in smaller amounts till the river.....

The SB called after about 30 seconds. BB had QQ.

I was at the table (UTG folded). My immediate reaction was to call, but the more I thought about it, the more inclined I was to think that folding was correct. By the time the SB called, I had decided that I would have folded. Everyone at the table seemed to think that the SB was right - except me (hence the post).

The BB has 250 invested in the pot, and has the option to check it down if he wants to. If he's behind, this is what we does - a free shot at catching up.

But he pushes, given this, he *has* to be ahead. He's banking on the SB being unable to lay down the hand. A great play exploiting human curiosity and weakness.

You kinda feel sorry for the SB, but I think that a good player could lay this down. The SB got caught playing his own cards only.

You could argue that this could be a "he-knows-that-I-know-that-he-knows" situation, but closer scrutiny reveals this is probably not the case.

that's bollix - a good player would never lay that down

I would call. People are always bluffing in these situations. Always.

    Look again:
    * The BB has complete information on the hand - he knows what he has, and exactly what his opponent has. He is the only person to have this.
    * He has a small amount invested in the pot, and can get away from this relatively unscathed.
    * He has shown strength before the flop.
    * He *completely* controls the betting.
    * He knows that the SB will probably call him - he has a set.
    * He is not a Donkey.

The question to be asked is "Is the BB bluffing"?. Everything points towards concluding he is not.

Still call. Also not folding means he cant poke a bluff in your eye. Thats harder to live down than calling and losing!.
