Can anyone tell me where Croke Park fits in on the list of largest (capacity) stadiums in Europe.

It was discussed on Ray Darcy show last week and I think they said it was the fifth largest.

Not sure what the others were

Nou Camp is larger than Croker anyway.

    5th largest.

    6th when Wembley opens.

If you take into accounts it's seating capacity only it drops well down the list.

Nou Camp, San Siro, Olympic Stadium and Westfalenstadion are all bigger.

Its the 3rd largest in Europe, according to its Wikipedia page. I remember reading the same thing on some other website too.

Wikipedia isn't an authoritive source. It'll be sixth largest when Wembley reopens as was posted elsewhere.

I wonder what it would be if they changed the Hill into seating, like the canal end......100k??

Neh, not that much. It might hold less but I can't see how the addition of two extra tiers would drop capacity by 20k.

Does anyone know what the capacity of the Canal end is?

how are they gonna lose 20k overall when the hill and nally hold 13k between them to begin with?

When they were planning to put a stand at that end in 2003 they said it would hold 13k as well so capacity would only change by a few hundred under that plan.

The capacity with temp seating for the FAI matches will be 76,000, so a permanent solution on the current terrace would hold more.

A permanent solution with a similar stand to the canal end would see an all seated capacity of 85,000 approx. Of course this isn't viable with the rail line positioned as it is.

For the record the current capacity is roughly.

    Lower Hogan 14,000.
    Upper Hogan 8,500.

    Lower Cusack 14,000.
    Upper Cusack 8,500.

    Lower Canal 9,000.
    Upper Canal 5,000.

Hill 12,500 standing or 6,500 approx temp seating

    Boxes and premium 10,000.
