    Hi All,

I have heard of schemes where you pay your flights to a disadvantaged area and either help with building/education/healthcare etc and your accomodation and food are provided. I am off for the summer and I would love to do something like this. I'm not fussy about location if anyone has done this and has any advice I would love to know. I am available for June & July.

Failing that I'm a secondary school teacher but I don't have TEFL qualification, if anyone knows if I could get a job in Summer camps or as a teacher of English as a Second Language I'd love to know that too. I'll go anywhere except stay in Ireland or go to the UK.

    Thanks,
    Kaz.

There are a good few, I've done searches for them and I think there's even a post about it on the Galway forum. They are mostly looking for doctors, nurses and admin experience they do seem to take on basic workers though but I'd imagine those places are taken up fairly quickly. Google it there are loads of companies but try and stick to the main charities I've heard there are some groups that have been accused of pulling a con job.

Thanks I partly guessed there would be some scam artists out there so a reommendation would be good.

I did a lot of googling last night and it seems for most places there is a chrage averaging about £1,500 excluding flights, vaccines, spending money etc.
That might be outside my budget this year because I have debts from studying.

I might look for paid teaching summer work instead.

    thanks!

High prices you've found online then. I did a bit of searching myself and I found prices for paid teaching of 795 €... Where have you been looking at?

I typed in 'Paid Teaching' and chose the first link. They also seem to be offering volunteer packages for less than a 1000€ (ex flights).

hopefully this helps. Keep us posted! We love living through others :p
