    'ok i'm in similar position to op well sorta. basically at my most danger time 12-14 days had sex used a condom but it had a mishap. went to GP at 8 am the next worn about 5 hrs later and took MAP straight away....so we're talking within 6 hours now my question is how safe am i? at my most fertile period si it close to 100%? room for doubt? anyone any personal experience or knowledge?'

    Ye, that happened me just before Christmas, unprotected sex, most fertile time, took the morning after pill and I was fine, no babies on the way, but I did do a pregnancy test a few days later, just to put my own mind at ease.

    You are pretty safe. It's not impossible that you could still get pregnant, but it's pretty damn unlikely. MAP after 5 hrs would have a lower chance of their being a pregnancy than there was if there'd been no detected mishap with the condom. (Remember, there's no such thing as safe sex, only degrees of safer sex).

    I'd recommend you take a pregnancy test when enough time has passed, but more because it'll stop you freaking out than because of the small remaining risk.

    freakingout why didn't you ask those questions of the dr prescriping you the MAP ?

    'quick update, seeing as you're all so good with replies thought you might appreciate one!
    as i said condom mishap got map the next day.
    woke up in agony this morning, period arrived bang on time. never thought i'd be so grateful for agonizing cramps.

    PHEW! lesson learned - more precaution in future'
