Apologies if this has been posted before, (which it most probably has), but I was just wondering if anyone could answer a few o my ishibashi queries. Was just wondering what delivery charges to Ireland are, time an item usually takes to ship and what additional taxes are added on to the price. Any help is appreciated.

shipping for a guitar is 16000 to 18000 yen. Add that to the price of the guitar and then allow for an extra 25% on top of that if you incur customs.

The item usually leaves Japan a day or two after you place the order - Ishibashi are very quick that way.

Sometimes it might take the rest of the week for it to meander through the Irish system though, the lads in customs usually arent in any rush to do their jobs... Also, Ishibashi will ship on sat/sun, but everything shuts down here, so you can time it so that the parcel isnt sitting around in Laois for the weekend.

If and when you get hit for import duty, they'll just charge you at the door (i.e. the man in the van won't give it to you til you give him the money).

Or, for very expensive items (a couple of grand), sometimes they'll actually keep the parcel in customs and send you a letter requesting a cheque, before they release it to AnPost. Obviously this is going to take a lot longer with letters and cheques going back and forth.

    What's the import duty like?

Also, how do you pay for something on the ishibashi site? I'm not ready to buy just yet but just wondering. Do you use paypal?

They give you a link where you submit your credit card details...they will then e-mail you that payment has been received and give you the tracking number for your parcel.
