I need help! I am trying to organise my friends honeymoon for her....looking at 2 weeks in south africa, BUT have a budget of around €5000 combined. Also, don't want to drive as a) it's their honeymoon and b) a travel agent told them it's too dangerous to drive in SA:eek:

I have been looking at the following: fly dub-london-cape town and spend 4 nights there. Fly to Johannesberh and transfer to either sun city/Pilansberg NP or Kruger and spend a couple of days there doing a days safari. Then fly to Mauritius for a week relaxing. Cheapest i have been offered so far is around €6700.

Can anybody help?Have tried Virgin holidays, Flight Centre so far.......any other recommendations?

Try Classic Resorts or Tropical Holidays, they do tailor made holidays like that.

Can understand (a) but the travel agent is talking crap for (b). Parts of SA are dangerous to drive in, but having driven a couple of thousand kilometres around the south and west coasts on two separate visits I can confirm that there are safe parts. However if they decide to hire a car for a day or two anywhere, they shouldn't do so in Jo'burg or Durban.

Try Travelfinders. We did Cape Town and the garden route with them a couple of years back. They were very helpful and advised Royal South Africa as they fly overnight. Also the bubble in the 747 is used for economy passengers as well and is very nice with good service and a lot less 'busy' than the main economy section.

They also sorted us with very good deals for some great hotels in Cape Town and the nearby towns. The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay is one of the best we have stayed in and would be perfect for a Honeymoon.

Cape Town is generally OK from a crime point of view once you are careful. Its easy enought to get to the wine country and then to travel around once you are there.
