So Im going to be getting a DS in a bit and been wondering what games are must haves.

The ones I'm definitely buying so far: New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart, Advance Wars, Castlevania, Brain Training.

    Any others?

I would just get a lend of brain training tbh...

From what I'me told, Brain Training is mostly sudoku and maths equations.

Castlevania (not the newer one, the first one on the DS) is class, but not much replay value. Same goes for Pheonix Wright actually, but both took me a good while to finish and were well worth it.

Trauma Centre is being re-made and released on the Wii. I think I'll wait to play that version.

    Have to recommend,

    Mario Kart - Replay heaven
New Super Mario - Great old school Game
Phoenix Wright - Great fun but no reply value
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow - Amazing if your a fan of the previous ones
Starfox Command - Loving this one
Trauma Centre - So much more engrossing than I ever thought it would be.

Is there any value in this one if you've never played an RE game before...

    (sad I know)

It's probably better if you haven't played it before, though that said, I think I enjoyed it more for it's nostalgia value. It shows it's age.

    I'd recommend;

    Osu! Tatake! Ouendan!/Elite Beat Agents
    Zookeeper
    Mariokart DS
    Phoenix Wright
    42 All Time Classics
    New Super Mario Bros
    Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
    Trauma Center
    Advance Wars: DS
    Metroid Prime: Hunters
    Mario & Luigi

resident evil is one of those games that you either love or hate, its my favourite game series even like it more than the zelda series
I have REmake on the gamecube but never played the ps version and there are some differences between it and the gc version so thats why I got it for the ds plus the fact that I could play something like RE on the train or whatever

If your into puzzle games with great story lines with a bit of horror mixed in (it aint your typical puzzle game its actually fun like) then its for you

Osu! Tatake! Ouendan - easilly the best DS game around, even if it will occasionally make you cry in frustration (grr Ready! Steady! Go). Arguably the best soundtrack in the history of video games.
Phoenix Wright - the first is one of my favourite games so far this year. Second one is not quite as good - a stronger sense of illogic in the stories being the main candidate. Plus no DS exclusive story in Justice For All. DS exclusive sequel coming out soon though.
Can't go wrong with the Mario series either - New SM Bros. and Mario Kart being the ones Id recommend.

It really needs online play to make it amazing, or at least one cart matches
