Changing bank branch

Is it easy to stay with AIB but change to a different branch? I assume this means I keep my account number but have to get a new sort code?

How does this effect any pay I have going into my account? Or any direct debits I have coming out? Is there something like "sort code forwarding" or do I have to coordinate everything to all change on the same day?

    Thanks.

No, you would get a new sort code and a new account number. You would be starting from scratch, basically. Every thing would need changing over to your new account.

A new account number too? Now that's a pain in the hole!
