Flight Connection at Chicago - Immigration Delays?

I'm flying to Chicago by Aer Lingus and getting an internal flight from there. There's only about an hour and a half to spare between landing and taking off again. Question: given that I'll be going through American Immigration checks at Shannon are there any delays I can expect at the Chicago end or I can just make my way immediately to the connecting flight?

You have to collect your bags and take them thru US Customs and check them in again.

Just collecting your bags and you will told where to go if you are connecting for your internal flight.

You will arrive in the international terminal and after collecting bags as Ruu said have to take train (internal automatic)to your next terminal...should be just about ok...

You'll have to collect you bags, then go through and check in again. Unless you have booked you internal flight through AerLingus it's unlinkely they will hold a flight for you. Think you'll be pushing it to clear immigration, as you still have to have your passport checked, fingerprint and iris scan and collect bags etc in that time. Make yourself known to the connecting flight company...they might offer to meet you from your initial flight and try to rush you through (they often have glf carts to help you!)....i'd call them up in advance and explain your situation.

If you booked your connecting flight through aerlingis it's a bit different i'd say, as you would probably be accepted onto the next available flight if you didn't make it.

Many thanks for the information folks. I've booked through Aer Lingus so hopefully I'll be OK.

And Hour and a half is not alot of time for a connecting flight in Chicago. If your flight from Ireland is delayed at all you are fubared.
