What engineering body can i join?

    Hello,
    I´ve got a diploma in manufacturing engineering from 1999. I have never thought to join any engineering societies or body as i´ve been working in land surveying but now i do!

    I think with your diploma you should be able to join Engineer's Ireland - have a look at their website sure:

    I believe the old IEE (Institute of Electrical Engineers) has recently merged with a manufacturing sector organisation to provide a broader "engineering and technology" focus, the IET. I'm not sure how strong the focus is on manufacturing is though. I was member for 5 years of the IEE, but I'm working in Geophysics now, and they upped the membership from 15 sterling, to 66 or something, so I decided to jack it!

    They're much much more internationally recognised than the IEI
