Problems recognising USB disc space?

I had a full 256mb USB memory key, and my Macbook could delete stuff off it just fine. (It's formatted to MS-DOS according to my computer.) However when I deleted all the stuff, it still does not acknowledge that there's any free space on the thing!

I've tried everything, restarted my Mac, stuck it in a different port, etc etc and nothing works - my Mac stubbornly tells me I've only got 4MB on the thing! Anyone have any ideas?

Get 'Clean up smb mess' as well for keeping MS-DOS drives good.
