Restringing + Neck tension

    OK -

I had to take all the strings off my Takemine acoustic so i could get inside. The nut holding the jack plug had fallen off and it was loose inside. I could just about get my fat arm in there to push in back into it's hole.

Anyway - I know that you should always restring a guitar 1 string at a time, so you don't warp the neck. Thing is, I haven't ever had to do all 6 strings together and try and adjust the neck tension while doing it. Anyone have a good method for doing this, or should I bring in into a shop?

    Thanks,

    D.

Just put the new strings on and see if you need to make a truss rod adjustment first. There is no harm in removing all the strings from a guitar. I've been doing it for almost 20 years and I've got no warped necks. String it up, see if you need to make a change, then worry about making a change.

I would add: leave it for 24 hours after you string it up before you decide to take it to a shop.
