    need a 12 volt 900ma power supply, would it be ok to use a 12 volt 1000ma supply, its for a wireless modem

    no problem, the modem will only take what it needs.

    Its a bit close for comfort, It will work but I'd imagine that it will be very hot and not last that long. Get a bigger power supply maybe a 1.5 - 2 Amp to be on the safe size.

    where did you get the idea you need a 900mA supply? are you replacing the one you already have? if so, the 1A one will do fine
