From reading a lot of your posts, it seems like most places in Galway close at 1:30-2am? Is that the case? I'm moving there and people keep telling me how brilliant the night life is but I'd be disappointed if the night ends at 2. :(

Most bars close at 1.30am to 2am and a few night clubs run on to about 2.30 to 3am. Don't let the early closing stop you from moving, I moved 5 years ago and its a great place

Oh I'm definitely moving, looking forward to it and terrified all at once. I've moved a lot but never on my own before! I presume there is a good culture of house parties to extend the night right? Otherwise I'll have to start one of my own!

    Hi Louise,

3am is perfectly fine when you start drinking in the late afternoon!

If you're good looking I'm sure you'll get drunkenly asked to a house party in my place at about 3 in the morning on shop street at some point during your time in Galway!

Sunny summer Sunday drinking on the street outside Dew drop inn after the match.
    Can't beat it with a stick! :D

Aaaaah...suddenly its all becoming clear, and I like it! Early drinking/all day drinking is my favourite kind. And PopeBuckfastXVI, I'm sure I'll see you later. ;) He he, I'm getting excited about this Galway lark now.

That's what i didn't like about Dublin when i lived there. there doesn't seem to be as big a houseparty culture as in galway.

i spend most of my time in houses with friends and strangers than i would in the pub/club.

I'm volunteering my services to show you around the inside of every bedroom in my house.

(I have nice bedrooms is all)

That sounds great. I'd like to see as many bedrooms as I can before I decide what kind of bedroom I'll eventually choose. So much decor-so little time!

Just don't give yourself unrealistic expectations of the kind of bedroom you can get for yourself in real life... a lot of those pillows are totally airbrushed you know...

Phew, I actually needed some alone time with those pictures. They're amazing. I hear what you're saying about the airbrushing but a girl can dream right? (See what I did there? I'm effing hilarious).

I'm tempted to join in on the flirting but my heart belongs to Noone, NJ

Galway used to have very few late bars but then they all started popping up. A few years ago I worked in a bar in eyre square and it was 12:30 at weekend but now in a lot of places its 2am. 2am in a bar was only for arts week and so on

Nighclubs are 2am but 2:30 fri and sat - I love going away and being in a place and seeing its 4am and the place is still hopping. I hope to hell they extend the licensing laws at some stage. Its a joke the way it is.
