i think it all depends on the school,it is good in our school but i have heard bad things about other schools, ask some of this years TY's in your school what they think.

I did it many years ago and i definitly think now its worth doing. Just even the experience with computers and work exprience helps so much when ya start thinking about what to do.
Plus my reasoning at the time was that i wouldn't have been 18 when i started college!!!

listen mate, im doing ty at the moment. have to say - Brilliant.

The tours are great - loads of great stuff to do during the year. makes it easier to decide on subject choice. great stuff imo

but definatly talk to your own school's TY's - thats my opinion - my school. best of luck though

I'd definitely say do it, but get involved in some stuff, otherwise it'll be boring as hell.

and definitely do it if you go abroad :)

my school had a deadly TY programme so it was well worth doing!!

Completely depends on the school. Ask them what programmes they do and post them here. I'll let you know are they any good. I did it myself and loved it and am now the co-ordinator in the school I work in. My students are very busy (NOT a doss) year but love it! Check out what is available and then decide. I would generally recommend it.

I feel more ready for the leaving cert now being a year older. It's not for everyone though

I would strongly suggest against it, a complete waste of a year that I can't get back.If you enjoy school then go for it,but if you were, like me, an above average student that hates school then avoid and just go straight onto 5th year.
