Smackdown results from last night’s tapings in Tuscon:

    - King Booker beat Matt Hardy after an ax kick. Good opener.

    - Backstage, MVP spoke to Teddy Long. MVP wants Chris Benoit at WrestleMania for the U.S Title. There were several backstage segments here, including interviews with Kane and Batista.

    - Batista beat Kane after the Batista Bomb. This wasn’t pretty. Kane was moving slow, and Batista was moving like…Batista. Seemed to last forever.

    - The Miz has a new “show” - MizTV. This was done in the ring, and his guests were Ashley and Melina. They put over Playboy before Ashley challenged Melina to a match at WrestleMania 23. That’s Ashley and MVP on the card. Oh boy. This ended in a catfight.

    - Mr Kennedy beat CM Punk after a swinging neckbreaker. Cue the Internet cries of Punk being buried after this is posted.

    - Backstage again, The Great Khali attacked Kane.

    - Undertaker beat Finlay in the main event. Decent match. The Hornswoggle formerly known as Little Bastard interfered, but the end was Undertaker hitting a chokeslam then a tombstone on Finlay for the win.

    - After the match, Batista came out and they had one of those staredown things from a distance to close a solid TV taping.

Sounds average apart from Finlay vs Undertaker but what is the point in bringing Punk to Smackdown just to have him lose? I mean if they had brought Kennedy to ECW and bet Punk there it would make sense and I'd be fine with it vice versa is just dumb.

Ha, from the sounds of the Batista Kane match, big Dave has already checked out. Here's hoping he's never seen again after Mania.

I'd guess that the reason they put Punk on SD is simply because he's going to be in one of the biggest matches on the card at WM, and more people watch SD than watch ECW. I'm sure there's a lot of countries that don't get ECW at all, so now at least all those fans will have an idea of who Punk is

Would have made more sense if he won a match though, but there's still 3 weeks to go, hopefully they don't completely bury him between now and then
