For any residents who haven't checked their email yet, the laundry will be closed from the 16th of March to the 2nd of April for upgrade! Why do they need over two weeks to do this?!

Anyone know of any good alternatives around college for the period?

Odd that they don't leave it until the summer to do.

A quite google gave me this: http://www.citikey.com/search/category/20010/city/Dublin

Bin your clothes at the end of the day and buy new ones.

so the summer isn't the best time to do it either. I don't use it that often but from what I've seen it's busier (so making more money for college) during the tourist season than the academic year.

I'd disagree with that: I used it several times during the summer and it was dead compared to when undergrads are back. So I still think the best time to do it is during the summer.

I don't live here during the summer, so I also agree that the summer is the best time to do it ;)

Mr. Myth, surely you remember, as a former summer resident, that the laundry is used as the working laundry for summer guest service by Housekeeping in the mornings? (i.e. students and guest can only use after lunchtime, mornings is Housekeeping staff only to wash sheets and towels that are used in the rooms that are rented out). That may explain why Housekeeping are reluctant to do maintenance during the summer (as they would have to all the sheet-washing off-site). (I'm not agreeing with the decision, just speculating on a further motivation)

On another note, I presume Trinity Hall laundry will be operating as normal this month, though?

The Wash House, just beside the Gardai station on the street parellel to Pearse street, is fantastic. Not too expensive, and very friendly.

To be honest, I don't! I think you overestimate my state of mind in the mornings.

Why does the laundry close at night? there's a 24h computer room but a room with washing machines closes why?

because the area was and is considered a security black spot.i remember having a chat with security about it before. computer room nice well lit and well populated even at night. laundry not so much.
