Either way, you can save it to the Desktop then run the downloaded file. When its installed, you can delete the downloaded file.

Friend of mine had problems with his PC and I asked him which AV he was using. he said Avast. Asked him to download AVG and run virus scan. Come up with 6 viruses... Will stick to AVG! :D

I'm running Avast on Vista 'cause it doesn't appear to like AVG but I much prefer AVG. Used it for years and installed it for loads of customers, never had a problem. The registration requirement for Avast is also a pain in the hole.
Btw, download, save and install is always a better option tha running from the web.

another vote for avg here. one quick note too. i'm not one that's big on paying for software, i'll take free if i can, but the avg internet security suite is top notch.

avg pro, firewall, anti-spam and anti-spyware all in one lump managed from the one single little console with integrated updates etc. very easy to manage the whole thing, i like it very much.

only problem at all so far is that the firewall doesn't play well with sandboxie, but apart from that it's perfect imho. low footprint of hdd, cpu and ram too, compared to the juggernaut's that are norton and mcafee. wouldn't touch either with a barge pole. i like to refer to them as the methodone of the AV world, because the 'cure' is often as bad or worse than the disease as far as pc stability and performance goes. :D
