I have had a Sony KDL-V32A12U LCD TV for a few months now. It has a CAM slot.
I know it is to do with Top Up Tv and I could use it on Freeview.

Is a CAM a device that takes a Top Up Card. I presume a CAM is some kind of Access Module?

    Curious!

Yes, a CAM is Conditional Access Module. And yes, you stick your viewing card in it.

If there is evidence to suggest that the CAM is for TopUpTV, then a TUTV card will work

    Byte!

I was watching the promo for Setanta on Freeview and I got a little curious! I have never fully checked out Freeview. Setanta will send you a CAM should you want to go that route.
Must stick with Sky for the 'Irish channels'.

    Thank you for the info.
