It's fine. I have a 1.66Ghz Core Duo, as I've no problem belting out Battlefield 2 and Company of Heroes so I wouldn't worry about it. Whatever accompanying graphics card thats running alongside it will probably be a potential bottleneck sooner then the processor.

i have a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS with it and 2gbs of ram

will that be good enough to play cryis on high

I doubt it. It will play the game, but at what settings is anyones guess, although I would wager that it won't run the game at high settings.

    I've a 7900GS and 1.66Ghz Core 2 Duo, is there a demo I can try?

what laptop processor would be ideal for games

    what would a Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7200

Any of them are generally ok. The T2600 you first mentioned is more then enough - your Go7900GS is going to be the limiting factor, not the processor.

The T7400 is the Core 2 Duo 2.16Ghz version.
