Hi, I have Windows xp and speakers have stopped working. I have gone through trouble shooting which has the exclamation mark beside my audio device and when I try re-installing it tells me theres an error. Does this sound like my sound card is gone. If so, should I buy an external sound card? I have the computer about 3 years! Any ideas what I should do?
    Thanks!

when you try to reinstall it, have you removed the drivers first ?

Are you sure its plugged into the pci slot properly ?

And if you are going to buy a new, dont bother with external, they are more expensive and often lack some features of dedicated pci cards.

Hi Anti, Yes I have uninstalled drivers, then when I reinstall the computer detects the speakers but half way through tells me there is an error and the exclamation mark is back on audio device again! All is connected properly.
