I know a chap looking for a hunting knife to give as a gift. Can someone recommend somewhere in Dublin to get one? Basic, not too scary.

    Post here or PM me.

Stricly speaking we only do shooting on this board but to be fair you wont find an answer anywhere else on boards!! ;)

Your looking or a hunting knife not a "bayonet". Bayonets go on the end of a military rifle for stabbing people! Anyway i'll correct the thead title and im sure you will get some good advice from people here.

I think he's looking for something like http://www.cutleryshoppe.com/ProductImages/bo_547_t.jpg or http://www.gunaccessories.com/Eickhorn/bayonetgroup.asp

    NOT http://www.recumbent.com/bayonet.jpg

Those are military bayonets used for stabbing people and general military use, so if he wants it for hunting id go with the first link. The mil stuff is fine, robust and doubles as a wire cutter and an entrenching tool but for preparing game you can do alot better.

Also unless you have the rifle it fits why would you bother with a baynoet even if you want a mil knife there are better options.
