    Hi everyone
I am 14 years of age and roughly 6ft 1", and I am roughly 62kg (about 10 stone). Is this a normal weight for my age and height? I usually focus on the ground in MMA if that helps you. Thanks.

At 14 you shouldn't be worrying about what your competitive weight should be. Don't worry about your weight too much. 10 stone is thin for your height, but you'll fill out as you get older.

Don't worry about it - maybe you'll always be tall and lean, like Anderson Silva, or maybe you'll fill out into a Randy Couture. Eat well, enjoy your training, and have a balanced life and it'll all come together for you.

    Legendaire,

Before you're an adult, or at least 16, I wouldn't restrict your diet in any way. Obviously, eat healthily (www.thepaleodiet.com as much as you can stick to it) and look after any injuries you have.

If you were in the US and wrestling, you'd probably be cutting weight around this stage during the wrestling season, but you don't need to worry about that as all junior competitions in Ireland match competidors by size using a mix and match system until we've got it right.

If you want to bulk up, there's nothing stopping you at this stage from lifting, just make sure you're doing it with correct form and giving your body adequate rest between workouts. It's far better to have good technique and lift lighter than to horse around a heavier weight for a while only to pick up long term injuries.

    Colm
