Does it just happen with the key, or does it also happen with other USB devices? Have you tried putting it in a different port?

Have you checked it on another computer, make sure the keys file system isn't corrupted?

Are you getting any error message? What operating system?

It has happened on different ports. I haven't yet tried it on another machine. Other USB devices are working properly. There is a blue screen with writing on it before crashes but it goes too quickly to read what it says.

Is it, by any chance, a disgo U3 key?

They occasionally crash my Windows 2000 Pro system in work... not sure why. Something, I assume, to do with the "U3" software on it which autoruns. Possibly, if you put it into a PC which WILL read it and delete any auto-running software, that might sort out the problem..?

It is a Sony MAX 2.2G key.
