Anyone have or have ever used this lenses?
Seems decent enough from what i can see and the price aint bad at all (300 dollers from B&H)
I was looking for the 10-20 sigma but it is just a bit out of my price range for what I need it for and I cant seem to find one second hand.

    Any advice would be great

quite nice the 3.5 puts me off a bit, i'd rather a more shallow dof in most my wide angles, but thats just me. tokina are an ok brand, alot of mixed reviews on alot of their stuff

I had one of these lenses for the canon mount...I sold it as the AF was a bit slow, wide open its was'nt that sharp and suffered from flare. But on the other hand when stepped down it was a good performer, I would class this lens as a landscape lens. heres some shots I took with the lens.

Thats the Prime 17, isn't it?

I have the Tokina 17-35mm zoom and it's one of my favourite lenses. On the dSLR it's a good Wide-to-Normal zoom, roughly about 28-50. But its also a full-frame lens so you can buy a cheapy plastic film camera and have all that glorious 17mm focal length. Not sure how it compares to the Prime 17mm quality-wise, but the zoom is an f2.8 compared to the Prime being f3.5.

The price should roughly be the same too.

Its not really any wider than the kit lenses are. They tend to start at f/3.5 too. Keep saving for the 10-20 imo.....

I was going to go with the Tokina but I just got a txt off the college telling me that my "Materials grant" is in :)
I tottally forgot that they give us money in our final year so I am going to borrow the extra and pick up the lense tomorrow!
