I've been told that the Wii LAN adapter isn't out for a few weeks, which isn't too bad, as I'm not in that much of a rush (I have waited since November after all!;) ), but I've also heard that a DS LAN adapter will work.

Just wondering if anybody knows if this is true/cheaper?

Can't see it being cheaper, but the DS LAN adaptor is a wifi dongle for the PC, so you need your PC on to use the wireless functions. You're probably better off waiting for the ethernet adaptor for the Wii tbh...
