Emergency services are at the scene. Traffic is tailing back past Ballymount. The crash is also causing delays on the Naas Rd inbound - traffic is backed up to Newlands Cross from the Red Cow Roundabout. Motorists are advised to exit the M50 northbound before Tallaght to avoid major delays. On the M50 southbound traffic is busy but moving from Finglas to past Lucan. - source

Well hopefully everyone involved is alright. Of course I bet the cause of the accident wasnt 'an accident' but 'stupidity'. :(

I dont mean to have another go, but if there was proper driver education I wonder how many of these seriously desruptive accidents on the most major road in the country would happen??

probably none - I've certainly never heard of any accidents occuring in other countries.

I was in Germany last year and the A5 to Stuttgart was blocked by a pileup which closed a section of it , so yes it does happen.

Actually that reminds me - I was driving northbound between sandyford and the knocklyon exit yesterday - about half way up I see lots of brake lights illuminate. The car was almost stopped at one point due to the traffic slowing down. And the cause of it? A crash on the southbound lane. Nosey fecking rubberneckers!

How did you know? Did you do a bit of rubbernecking yourself? :D

Why wouldn't they close a single lane on the other side and bring traffic over in situations like this?

Haha - I knew someone would say something like this!. Yes I did look at it but only because the traffic was going so slow. I make a point of not slowing down if I can... I just couldn't believe how slow some people were willing to go to have a good old gander!
