Return of court bond

Does anyone know the procedure for the return of a cash surety paid in the circuit court? A recent case required a cash surety, or bond, I'm not sure of the proper term, in regard to being bound to the peace for a certain time and a further cash surety/bond paid with regard to an appeal. The appeal has since been heard and allowed. That was a month ago and there is still no sign of the return of any of the money. SHouldn't this money be returned automatically?

Own bond is your own money, independent surety is someone else's. Sometimes, but not always, you have to lodge some or all of the money in the court. If you did lodge some money, then you could try contacting the relevant court office which took the money off you. So if you entered the bond in front of the dublin circuit court, you should contact the dublin circuit court office, etc.

You can contact the dublin circuit court office at:

    Public Records Building
    Four Courts
    Inns Quay
    Dublin 7
    Phone +353 (0) 1 888 6620 / 6888 / 6611 / 6612
    Fax +353 (0) 1 872 8817
    Email CircuitCriminal@courts.ie

and if you want to contact a different office go to www.courts.ie which will have the information.

I should say that I don't know if you will get your money back this way, but the court offices are usually very friendly and they should point you in the right direction.
