Nice work, the Gate House looks very ominous.

Interesting but I don't think the toning does them any favours. The subject matter screams out for contrast and the toning leaves them all fairly flat. As for the watermark, don't get me started. I just don't see the point in it on small pics, or large ones, for that matter. If someone wants to rob them well it wont take them 3 minutes to remove it and it distracts me anyway.

After that rant, I really like the photos but I'm not a fan of the treatment.

Looked at the posts shot and wondered what they were, then I say the title and shuddered! Good pictures but as you say not a cheerful subject.

Some very nice pictures there. You captured the gloom of the place really well, especially with the last picture.

Love the watchtower one, could it benefit from a more b&w contrast?

Thanks for the critque Valencia - I was going to leave them in colour initially but the colours were quite dull, lots of gray losing attention to quite a blue sky in some of the pics. Also i didn't think they flowed as well as a series as they do in duotone. Someone else also commented on a lack of contrast, but they seem to have enough contrast to me, maybe my monitor is off or something? :)

As for the watermark it's not so much a security concern as a facility for anyone that might post online, redistribute or save the pic to find the source of the pic again. I know peoples opinions on them vary, but i try to keep it out of the focal point of the pic and keep it quite unintrusive.
