I have a noticed a trend developing over the last few months one which i dont like. I find myself playing well in large buy in tourneys (live & offline) where i am fully focussed throughout the tournament and making good decisions.
In these tourneys i always seem to perform well and i am always well up for it, the difficulty i am have is the bread & butter smaller buy in tourneys where i need to be cashing but find myself performing poorly and i truly believe it is down to me drifting in and out and not fully concentrating on what hands i have, position, action around me with motivation normally lacking also. I generally find myself making one bad decision/call loose half my stack and put myself in short stack ninja mode. I would welcome any advice, suggestions, articles to help this part of my game as i need to perform in these lower buy in events as they are more frequent for me and can have a - effect on my BR at the end of each month. Assistance greatly appreciated

    Cheers
    Fran

    Jackyback.

    1. Think of the money.

    2. Try and put players on exact holding during hands, predict bet sizes, etc. to alleviate boredom.

    3. Think of the money.

I have found that lately aswell. there are more deep stack tournaments around that i have been playing where you can take your time, and can be more calculated with your hand range and pots to get involved with.

Then suddenly your play a double chance or scalps game, lose a pot stupidly and suddenly your short stacked. I have started to treat the smaller stacked games like a turbo tournament online, and get busy early, bully, and either have more chips than the chief or a bottle of beer in front of you.

As you said they are the bread and butter tournaments, due to the fact that the Deep Stack tournaments attract all the good players so there are no easy tables, and it is way harder to make the money.

yeah played a €50 with 1 r/b last night in drogheda about 30 runners and finished 3rd for €420 (all in with qq to be called and beaten with 78:mad: ) there are a few things i done differently.

    1. Did not act like a comedian or talk ****e at the table and really tried to focus on mine and others hands, worked well made some good calls and lay downs.

    2. Lowered the volume on the MP3, suprisingly not as distracting

3 Finally played it like i was playing for my dinner money the next day, know it sounds strange but it certainly helped.

If i can discipline myself to do this every time it may help my game, just need to cut down on the banter, wise cracks and ultimeatly start watching whats going on around me.
