Mini Digital Cameras?

I'm wondering are there any good, mini, gadget-like digital cameras out there? Maybe they are dead because of camera phones but back in 2003 I had a Sipix Stylecam Snap which wasn't bad but wasn't great either.

These are basically very small cameras without lcd. I had a check on eBay and those that are there have very bad reviews.....

Anyone know of a good one? Thanks

you might as well spend a few quid more and get a decent (yet compact) camera. afaik, they were about the resolution of the first camera phones, about half a megapixel.

Maybe use it as an excuse to upgrade your phone :D

  • thanks..don't suppose you could recommend a decent inexpensive digital camera for a beginner?

Argos have a Vivitar 3 megapixel camera for 50 euro.
It's not really a mini/gadget style one though.

I saw them in electrical stores all over Las Vegas and San Diego for 15-40 dollars each, and they're incredibly handy little things that make great presents for children, as they're easily replacable, portable, tiny (they fit on a keychain) and can record sound, video and audio. I brought one home for my friend's daughter, and she loved it.

The one I purchased was $15, 3mp, could record everything, charged and connected via the standard crimped USB connection and was expandable with SD cards. I need to get some more and make a pretty selling them at 300% markup. :D

Buy a 2nd hand 2-3mp brand named camera with good reviews. The no name cameras often have a big pixel count but poor electronics, sensor and lenses. Without which you'll struggle to get a half decent picture.

They're the kind of things I was originally looking for!!! Are you sure you mean 3mp and not 0.3? I was sure ebay USA would be full of them but its not. Would you get one for me the next time you are over ;). Can you post a pic? Is there a limit on how expandable it is with SD cards? What were the differences between the $15 and $40 models?

Now you see I don't know where to go for reviews or know what is a "named" camera..sounds like a lot of work. I checked the Argos catalogue for example and theres tons of cameras to go through...
