Advantage rule (or lack of) really annoying

I was watching yesterday's excellent game between Kilkenny and Tipp and after about 10 minutes Kilkenny are attacking, player fouled but gets pass away, goal scored play brought back for penalty subsequently missed. I have no love for Kilkenny, but for the sake of a few seconds a legitimate goal was disallowed thanks to foul play. It happened to Westmeath a few years back in the league when a penalty was awarded and missed after a foul on the full forward, despite the goal being scored. The advantage rule is the one area of refereeing that needs to be brought into the 21st century if anyone knows anyone with any influence on rule changes maybe they could mention this one.

I agree. I am a fan of the rugby way however in GAA maybe not to the same extent. I think refs should give maybe 5 seconds or so and see if they are going to get legitimate advantage and play on if so. Have seen many times where a foul leads to a 1 on 1 with the keeper and play is brought back which is silly really.

Play is only brought back if the whistle is blown, the referee can leave play go, he just can't pull it back.... I think it's a better system in the GAA, where each desision is completely seperate.

Yeah, despite supporting Tipp, I felt it was an odd decision to pull the play back, especially when they got the goal. Would agree with what Nalced Irl said here.
