Giving Notice

I hate my current job, so i got a new one and want to leave this kip asap.
Im dreading handing in my notice cos my boss will go mad, but thats neither here or there.

It says on the company employee booklet we must give 4 weeks notice, but would this only mean for people who are here 6months (and thus Permanent?)

Im here since late October, so its just a few months.Could i get away with 2 weeks notice? Id love to get out asap!

Edit: I just found my contract and it says all employees must give 4 weeks notice and I have signed the contract. So therefore i presume i must give 4 weeks notice?

Check your handbook again, many companies run with 7 day notice during probation (to pay less if they decide you're not suitable). Also if you ask your manager the company can waiver even the seven days on occasion.

Oh-oh spaghettios!!!! I'd read and re-read your contract but it sounds like you'll have to work out your month unless your employer agrees otherwise.

Ah feck. I'll give 2 weeks, but if they make me give 4 i'll be sick for the last 2! I'll get the reference in the first couple of weeks - so i won't have to worry about that!

Depends on the type of business you are in. If its competative tell them you are going to a rival company, theres a good chance you could be told to walk immediately with a months salary in your back pocket. Depends on what kind of job you are in of course.

No its not competitve, and im actually move to england for a different sector of my buisness. Im waiting for my official job offer before I do anything though.

You could just give them one weeks notice. They can't force you to work the other 3 weeks.

Ok, they could proberly bring you to court for breach of contract but I don't seriously see them doing that - unless you're in a really high up position?

i think i know what job your talking about and if im right when you tell them your giving notice theyll say ur on probabtion so you dont need notice goodbye.................if im wrong then a weeks notice max if your on probabtion although ur pay periods notice is generally percieved as polite and thats usually whats put in contracts but at the end of the day they cannot make you work

Doubt it, but the probably wouldnt give me a reference then!
And its not a high up position. Theres not even much work for me to do, don't know why i was hired in the first place! Actually i do, so my boss could sit on her ass and do sweet F all day.

oh ye all these half kinda screwing the employer are things you do only if you dont need a reference
