    Hi,

    Can anyone help with this.

We have a dell poweredge server in the office which is running windows xp.

But the USB ports will not recognise a removeable hard drive when it is plugged in.

The USB ports are working becasue I can use flash memory sticks in them.

    Anyone any idea?

If you have drives say C: D: and E: and then a network share F: if you plug in your hard disk it possibly expects to go F:

If you can see it in drive management then its good, just reasign the drive letter. If you cant well then there is an issue either with the USB or the connections or something of that level

I assume you have admin rights on the server and it doesn't have USB drives locked down or anything?

    Ok here are the answers:-

No I can't see the drive in drive management

Yes I am logged in as admin

And the usb drive works with flash ram

The usb drive works in other computers
