unable to get signal after changing to a new HH100 motor

    hi all,
i have the following system setup and it was working with a Moteck motor (one with the plastic gear)

Titanium 0.2db LNB (bought last week)
    Ferguson/Arion AF5018 CI reciever.
New Motor (HH100) - metal gear compared to the Moteck plastic one (got a battering in a storm!)

this was working fine earlier with the old motor but now with the new motor i can't get a signal at all. all the settings on the receiver are the same, 9.3W 54N (in Mayo) using USALS. i have been looking for Astra2 with the satellite meter but not a dickie bird of a signal. i hook up the meter between the receiver and the motor (lights up the meter and the motor is moving).

I changed the old LNB as there is was 55% signal strength all the time but with the new LNB its back down to 0%. (thinking that the old one could be damaged!)

any advice would be appreciated as its getting a bit frustrating now! had a local sky installer have a look at it but he wasn't too interested to tell the truth. would anyone know of anyone else in Mayo who would have a good knowledge of motorised systems?

    thanks

Sounds like a dodgy connection or a busted LNBF if you're getting 0% signal.

Recheck all connections. Then the best thing is to forget about motor and connect LNB directly to receiver (or with meter inline). Try aligning the whole setup as a fixed dish and see if you can get a signal. At least you'll then know if the LNBF is dodgy or not - you might even be better off using the old LNBF initially as you know that works.

thanks Zaphod for the pointers but still nothing. there is a constant 39% signal strength now with the new LNB but still can't get a signal. have spent a good bit of time on it now so am a little fed up.

any one know of someone in the mayo region who would be worthwhile contacting to sort it out?
